Can you feel the love tonight?
Love is in the air! Displays of pink and red hearts welcome us at grocery stores, giant stuffed teddy bears with bow ties stare us down and roses are everywhere. Literally everywhere.
Valentine’s Day isn’t my favorite holiday, but I do love the idea of celebrating those you love (and all of the chocolate). Whether you have plans with your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, family or friends, do something fun to show that you care!
A display of affection doesn’t have to involve dressing up fancy and going to an overpriced dinner. Dallas has so many affordable dates that are beyond fun!
Check out a few of my favorites below.
In the middle of Uptown, Klyde Warren Park shines bright. Grab some treats at one of the food trucks that line the area and hang out under the lights! On some weekends, you can even attend a free fitness class or a movie night on the lawn. Tai chi anyone?
I know what you’re thinking, but this isn’t your average mini golf… Another Round is all-grown-up! Putt putt the night away with a cocktail in hand and competition on your mind. Good drinks, food and fun!
My idea of a perfect date night is dinner and a movie (yes, I’m basic). Why not have it all-in-one at the drive-in? There’s nothing sweeter than cozying up under the stars and watching a movie in the back of a pick-up truck. If that isn’t Texas, I don’t know what is.
Once you get out of the city, DFW is surprisingly filled with hidden nuggets of nature. If you’re looking for an adventure, check out one of the many hiking trails around! I recommend Cedar Ridge Preserve - the views make the inevitable exercise worth it.
I have a bit of a sweet tooth... If you like cookies in the slightest, you have to try Crumbl. They release their weekly flavors every Sunday night, so it’s easy to become hooked and you WILL be back week after week. For a fun date, pick up a 4-pack and have a little dessert tasting! Grab some other treats from your favorite places and let the sugar coma commence.
This place is one of the coolest spots in Dallas. The Market itself is only open on Saturday and Sunday’s, but the indoor shops and restaurants are open 7-days a week! The area is super trendy and you can spend an entire day exploring the local scene.
Prep a lunch, grab a blanket and head to the water! White Rock Lake is the perfect place for a cute picnic, bike ride or even a photo session (guilty as charged). I promise that you’ll forget that you’re only minutes away from the big city!
Ikea or Target Trip
Bear with me on this one… Nothing says romance like arguing over furniture!! This one isn’t specific to Dallas since they’re located all over, but it’s too good not to mention. A trip to Ikea is actually such a fun date and makes for a very memorable day. You also can never go wrong with hanging at Target. To take it to the next level, plan a scavenger hunt or a get-to-know you game that you can play while you're there!
There's so much fun waiting for you in Dallas (that won't break the wallet). Make the date of your dreams come to life this Valentine's Day!
Always,
Alina Ann
